Last summer, in the thick of the presidential campaign, the Democrat Party began trotting out The Heritage Foundation’s “Mandate for Leadership,” a.k.a. “Project 2025,” as a weapon with which to beat Donald Trump. The Democrats painted a picture of Project 2025 as being an ultra-conservative “Handmaid’s Tale.” It was a pack of lies.

Project 2025 is, as our Mark Alexander explained back in August, a “quadrennial project report outlining the conservative agenda for America.” Importantly, he added, “Heritage has produced this mandate template for Republican presidential candidates since Ronald Reagan. The 900-page Mandate for Leadership is a detailed exposition of the more general terms in the GOP platform, and it is consistent with that platform.”

Unfortunately, it was a project that Candidate Trump disavowed at the time — a very undeserved slight.

Less than two weeks into President Trump’s second term, the left-wing rags have penned pieces essentially saying, I told you so. Project 2025 was the game plan all along.

Politico, the Associated Press, The Washington Post, Axios, USA Today, MSNBC, and Slate are some of the outfits that put out fearmongering pieces on the subject. Several of them blame Project 2025 for the pause in federal financial assistance programs. Others claim that Trump is following the playbook set out in the leadership mandate, which is why he’s ruling by executive order. This, of course, is laughable since Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden ruled by EOs.

Leftists tried this gambit before the election, and it failed. Now, post-inauguration, they are trotting it out again. What do they expect to happen? People running screaming in the street?

The most amusing aspect of all this is that Americans don’t seem to care about the Left’s wailing and gnashing of teeth. They have lived through four years of a disaster of a president, not to mention Democrats lying to them on a regular basis (see the cover-up of Biden’s mental incapacity and the “economy is great” assertion as examples). The American people are hungry for change, and President Trump is bringing about the reform he promised. He is deporting violent illegal aliens, declared that there are only two genders, and so much more. He is hitting the ground running with the goal to Make America Great Again. If some of those moves echo Project 2025, then great!

Also, if this is the best the demoralized Democrats can come up with to mount their counteroffensive, then they really must be out of ideas.
