Elon Musk shares his thoughts on the Big Beautiful Bill, judge rules transing of inmates must continue, Boulder attacker’s family arrested for deportation, and more.
- Musk vs. the Big Beautiful Bill: President Donald Trump, Speaker Mike Johnson, and the Republican majority in Congress have been working hard to get the One Big Beautiful Bill Act through the House and the Senate. A version of the bill has already passed the House, leaving the Senate to wrangle enough votes to advance it. Elon Musk is not a fan. Now that his time as a special government employee is over, he feels safe to share his thoughts on the bill: “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination.” Elon is right; bills like this one are far too large to responsibly handle government spending, but one big bill is what Trump has been asking lawmakers for, and they have delivered. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was sanguine about Musk’s remarks, stating that his position was well known inside the White House.
Judge rules transing of inmates must continue: U.S. government funds — which is to say, taxpayer dollars — must continue to be spent on “gender-affirming care” for criminals, says a [checks notes] Reagan-appointed judge. U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth says it’s federal law that if a Bureau of Prisons doctor says hormone shots are reasonable for criminals, taxpayers must foot the bill. In his ruling, Lamberth repeatedly refers to a biological man as “Ms.,” “she,” and “her,” demonstrating his ideological capture by the gender cult. This ruling creates a class that may not be denied gender-affirming care, which includes all those who are or will be held in federal prisons.
Boulder attacker’s family arrested for deportation: The family of the anti-Semitic illegal alien who attacked supporters of Israeli hostages being held by Hamas with Molotov cocktails in Boulder, Colorado, has been taken into ICE custody. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated that the perpetrator’s “despicable actions will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but we’re also investigating to what extent his family knew about this horrific attack, if they had any knowledge of it, or if they provided support to it.” The Egyptian national’s wife and five children will soon be deported as the State Department has revoked their visas. As Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained, “All terrorists, their family members, and terrorist sympathizers here on a visa should know that under the Trump administration we will find you, revoke your visa, and deport you.”
Newark mayor sues Alina Habba: Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, who is running to be governor of New Jersey, is suing Alina Habba, the interim U.S. attorney for the state, for false arrest and malicious prosecution. Baraka was one of several Democrats involved in a kerfuffle on May 9 outside the Delaney Hall detention center being used by ICE. Despite arresting and holding Baraka for a few hours on the 9th, Habba dropped the charges 13 days later in the interest of “moving forward.” Baraka is claiming he did not “ignore multiple warnings” to remove himself from the ICE detention center and that his arrest was politically motivated. Baraka’s lawyers have not disclosed the amount he seeks in damages and fees.
The “Good Catholic’s” targeting of Catholics was wider than claimed: FBI files recently obtained by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley show that Joe Biden’s FBI’s anti-Catholic operation was much more widespread than had been admitted. In February 2023, an FBI agent blew the whistle on an internal memo alert regarding “Radical Traditional Catholics,” which it described as “anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ and white supremacist” Catholics who were prone to “extremist ideological beliefs and violent rhetoric.” Following the revelation, then-FBI Director Christopher Wray downplayed it as a minor issue affecting only the Bureau’s Richmond field office, which had been addressed. However, the files indicate that the memo, dubbed the “Richmond Domain,” was sent to more than 1,000 FBI employees nationwide. Grassley isn’t amused: “Director Wray’s previous testimony to Congress that the Richmond analysts produced a ‘single product’ was false.”
ChiCom couple charged with smuggling a fungus: Two Chinese nationals have been arrested by the FBI and charged with attempted agricultural terrorism. One of the two is “a loyal member of the Chinese Communist Party,” according to U.S. Attorney Jerome Gorgon Jr. “These two aliens have been charged with smuggling a fungus that has been described as a ‘potential agroterrorism weapon’ into the heartland of America, where they apparently intended to use a University of Michigan laboratory to further their scheme.” The fungus not only is a severe blight on crops, but it can also cause serious health problems in humans and animals. FBI Director Kash Patel called the arrest “a sobering reminder that the CCP is working around the clock to deploy operatives and researchers to infiltrate American institutions and target our food supply, which would have grave consequences … putting American lives and our economy at serious risk.”
Restoring pride to our Navy: The USS Harvey Milk, a John Lewis-class oiler, will be renamed. It’s an unusual move given that ships in the Navy are traditionally not renamed. Nevertheless, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the ship, named after a homosexual
“civil rights icon”predatory pedophile, be renamed in the interest of restoring a “warrior ethos” to the U.S. military. As recently as 2023, the USS Chancellorsville and USNS Maury were renamed after Congress established a commission to eliminate names with ties to the Confederacy. Other Lewis-class oilers named for civil rights leaders and activists are also being eyed for renaming. The new name of the USS Harvey Milk will be announced at a later time.Army smashes 2025 recruiting goal: With still four months to go in the fiscal year, the U.S. Army has exceeded its recruitment goal for the year, with 61,000 future soldiers having enlisted thus far. That number is over 50% higher than this time last year. This comes following Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s efforts to eliminate woke policies within the military, including the removal of gender dysphoric troops from the force, and to restore a “warrior” culture. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll praised U.S. Army recruiters for their hard work to meet the FY25 recruitment goal and thanked Donald Trump and Hegseth “for their decisive leadership and support in equipping, training and supporting these future soldiers as they face a world of global uncertainty and complex threats.”
