It Seems That the Rainbow Mafia Overreached
Two research psychologists try to explain why, politically, both the Left and the Right are increasingly turning against homosexual behavior and culture.
The New York Times recently published a guest essay by two Northwestern University research psychologists, Tessa E.S. Charlesworth and Eli J. Finkel. Their analysis concerns a steady rise in “anti-gay bias” that started rocketing after 2020.
According to Charlesworth and Finkel, “The analysis of an additional 2.5 million responses from Americans collected from the beginning of 2021 through 2024 revealed that progress had not only stalled; it had reversed. In just four years, anti-gay bias rose by around 10 percent.”
“Perhaps most surprising,” they also note, “is that these trends were distinctly robust among the youngest American adults — those under 25. This group increased its animus against marginalized groups in general and gay people in particular at a faster rate than older Americans did.”
There may have never been a group less marginalized than those with gender pathology are today.
Anyway, according to the op-ed, in the lead-up to 2020, anti-gay bias had all but disappeared, so this new trend was an alarming one to the authors. Neither Charlesworth nor Finkel had an answer as to why Americans, particularly young people, have started to prefer heteronormativity, though the article assures readers that it’s not a spillover from anti-trans backlash or from labeling as “groomers” those who push their sexual preferences down other people’ throats. Example below:
Here are a couple of thoughts.
For most of us on the Right, a person practicing homosexuality simply is what it is — live and let live. Christians, though, are called by God to be witnesses and to pray for their repentance and salvation. Where we really get up in arms, though, is when the homosexual agenda is actively pushed on our children, and the concept of marriage is hijacked.
As Joel Abbott at Not the Bee points out, “The authors of the NYT op-ed fail to mention that a majority of Americans continued to be against gay marriage mirage.” That conviction is on both sides of the political aisle. By and large, Republicans don’t care what a person does in the bedroom; what they do care about is being forced to celebrate the all-year LGBTQ+ liturgical calendar, being forced to comply with a mentally ill person’s pronoun policing, letting a man take away women’s rights by invading their locker rooms and sports, and putting gay porn in children’s libraries and schools.
For those on the Left, homosexuals are, in a sense, no longer “marginalized” enough. Today’s victims de jour are Palestinians and illegal immigrants. Democrats are purely about power, and using “victims” to garner that power is part of the same old collectivist playbook.
Homosexuals are no longer bringing with them political power or momentum; therefore, they are not useful to the Left. Here’s Exhibit A: California Governor Gavin Newsom’s press office made a gay joke both in August and earlier this month in order to antagonize conservative/independent influencers. There’s also a significant split in the LGBTQ+ community. The LGBs think that the Ts are insane and have hijacked their movement and agenda — which they have.
Another interesting factor in Charlesworth and Finkel’s op-ed is that the heteronormativity trend is among those under the age of 25. Wasn’t it just a couple of years ago that Democrats were telling us Gen Z was the gayest generation?
As Abbott also observes:
Young people, particularly young men, have had unnatural sexual depravity shoved in their faces for their entire lives. They’ve been told they are “bigots” if they believe otherwise … but even if they tried not to be “bigots,” they were told they were bigots anyway because of their gender and color of their skin.
Then, when they tried to still be polite and live their own private lives, they were fired or excluded from jobs while politicians, gay activists, and Somalis stole all their money and their future.
When you grow up in this environment, where everyone is a gay wokescold pirate that would make Dolores Umbridge blush… you decide to burn clown world to the freakin’ ground.
Turns out that the LGBTQ+ segment of America, which has no self-awareness or self-control, pushed its agenda too hard. It tried to impose beliefs contrary to reality, and now the backlash is growing.
