Democrats Are the Party That Can’t Define Reality

A Harvard-Harris poll discovered that, unbeknownst to them, a supermajority of Democrats reject socialism when properly defined.

Democrats have become ensnared by their own failure to accurately define concepts and reality.

A woman is not simply a woman because she declares it so.

A hate crime is not someone doing something that you don’t like.

Racism is not a Caucasian declaring they are proud to be white.

Christian nationalism is not a conspiracy of bigotry and hatred directed toward non-Christians.

Yet the Democrats have taken words and phrases like “woman,” “hate crime,” “racism,” and “Christian nationalism” and applied them to non sequiturs. These words have lost their meaning because an entire political ideology killed them to bully people into obeying left-wing dogma.

Another of these hijacked words is socialism. For most individuals in the modern era, socialism doesn’t mean the Cold War, the death of dissidents, extreme poverty, or repeated government failure. It means unmitigated welfare and entitlements, such as public healthcare, affordable housing, and higher education. They look to places like Canada or Sweden as examples of this “working.” (Ironically, the Canadians are killing their own people via assisted suicide because, at this point, it’s cheaper to exterminate them than to treat their illnesses.)

That’s why young voters jump up and down for joy when a charismatic figure like Zohran Mamdani comes on the scene, promising all sorts of things like free grocery stores, rent control, and more taxes on the rich.

The problem? Socialism doesn’t work. Moreover, if every American actually understood socialist policies, they would be much more likely to agree with a free-market economy. This was made patently clear in a new Harvard-Harris poll.

Participants were asked, “What do you think is a better economic system — capitalism or socialism?” Fifty-four percent of Democrat participants said socialism was a better system. The poll then asked the question a different way: “Do you think America should run mostly as a free enterprise country or under socialism?” This time, only 32% of Democrats selected socialism.

Next, we come to the most hopeful part of the poll because what is proven here is that Democrats have no idea what socialism actually is. They do not understand that you own nothing — not even your home — since everything is owned collectively and determined by the government to form an equitable society.

When participants were asked, “Do you think under socialism that people will own their own houses or the state owns their houses?” 78% of Democrats said they think people will still own their own houses. The next question poses, “Do you think people should buy and own their own house or should the state own their houses?” Ninety-three percent of Democrats believe that people should own their own houses, not the government.

The next series of questions reveals that 82% of Democrats believe businesses should be privately run, and 72% say their lives are better under a free enterprise system.

Clearly, the Democrat respondents — perhaps unbeknownst to them — believe in the American Dream and not socialism, which is failing all around the world.

Why is there such a disconnect? This goes back to the issue of Democrats redefining terms to suit their agenda. Capitalism is bad because not everyone succeeds, they say. Socialism is good because it tries to help the poor. Yet even Democrat voters don’t buy the redefinition.

Helping the poor is a good thing. We should all want to help our neighbors. But outsourcing your compassion and your conscience to the government does not work. Socialism, in fact, eats its own.

Socialism is radical, ineffective, and incompatible with the American ideal of building a happy, safe, and better life. When the realities of socialism are properly defined, a supermajority of Democrats reject them. Now we must convince them to vote against their exploitative party helmsmen.
