The Big Apple’s Rotten Power Couple
Mayor Mamdani may be running New York City into the ground, but his wife’s history would make even the most ardent virtue-signaling leftist turn pale.
There’s woke, and then there’s Rama Duwaji, the wife of socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Duwaji has been under the spotlight more and more lately thanks to her alarming social media history. It started earlier this month, when Internet sleuths discovered that she liked posts celebrating Hamas’s massacre of innocent Israelis on October 7, 2023. This sent the mayor into damage control, with Mamdani warning these antagonists to back off because his reclusive wife is entitled to her own opinions and, therefore, should not be dissected by the public.
While Mamdani has insisted that his wife is a private person, there is reason to believe that she is not only habitually involved in politics but perhaps even more radical than her draconian husband.
The Daily Wire found that Duwaji, as an illustrator, used her skills and talent to create an animation for the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) that was used to target candidates who received donations from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) or who give to Jewish charities.
@nycdsa The Democratic primary is on June 25 and Palestine is on the ballot, even for your NY state reps. Are your NY Reps pro-ceasefire? Do they want to end subsidies for Israeli war crimes? Are they taking money from the AIPAC of NY? Go to palestineontheballot.com to see where they stand. Then, make your voting plan and get out the vote for pro-Palestinian socialists who need your support. This revelation got people digging even deeper. Just who is Rama Duwaji, and what does she believe?
A now-28-year-old woman of Syrian descent, Duwaji spent her early childhood in New Jersey and then the rest of her teenage years in the United Arab Emirates. She attended college in Qatar and then returned to the States. Given the culture in which she was raised, it is not surprising that she holds animosity toward Israel. After all, vile hatred of the Jews is in the very waters of the Middle East.
The Washington Free Beacon’s Jon Levine discovered that Duwaji had several troubling posts from her X and Tumblr accounts as a teen and 20-year-old.
On International Women’s Day in 2015, she glorified Palestinian female terrorist Shadia Abu Ghazaleh.
In another post, she extolled a Palestinian sewing a Palestinian flag right before the First Intifada.
She also posted a pithy tirade against American troops who were killed in a 2015 attack, saying, “*taps mic* American soldiers fighting in imperialist wars are not brave nor are they fighting for anyone’s freedom. They are mercilessly slaughtering 3rd world civilians and fighting to maintain American hegemony. That is all, thank you! \drops mic.”
In 2017, she posted an image of the infamous plane hijacker and Palestinian terrorist Leila Khaled, with the accompanying quote, “If it does good for my cause, I’ll be happy to accept death.”
There are many more instances of this. Her younger self was as pro-terrorist and anti-Israel as can be. Her husband almost certainly harbors these sentiments as well, though he presents himself as “more moderate” on the issue.
Duwaji further committed leftist liturgical sins. According to the laws of the secular puritans, if you are not black, you cannot use the N-word, even with a soft “r.” Many students have had their college careers canceled for singing lyrics that use the N-word, yet Duwaji used it on a public post as a 15-year-old. She also used offensive slurs referring to homosexuals.
These are the kinds of words that seal a person’s social doom, and that seems to have prompted Duwaji to delete her accounts.
Ironically, as all this comes to light, Mayor Mamdani has decided to create the Mayor’s Office of Community Safety, which will be overseen by his deputy mayor, Renita Francois, who is black. The point of this office is to “oversee five existing city programs that deal with mental health, domestic violence, gun violence, and hate crimes” (emphasis added). Will Duwaji be getting a visit from investigators from the Office of Community Safety? Probably not.
While Duwaji’s hate and hypocrisy are pointed toward the usual suspects, Mamdani’s hate is pointed directly at the people of New York City. His anti-law-enforcement attitude — like sending social workers to respond to 9-1-1 calls instead of the police — is literally killing people. I think he’ll find out quickly that dispatching social workers to an emergency situation is tantamount to his leaving the homeless out on the streets to freeze to death because he refused to force them into shelters.
Zohran Mamdani and Rama Duwaji are a power couple of animosity. They are antithetical to America and a leech on the people of New York City. Are they a blanket reflection of what that once-great city has turned into? If so, the Big Apple is rotten to the core.
