Dems Trash Trump in Spain
Partisan politics in our country used to end at the water’s edge, but that’s no longer true for today’s norm-obliterating Democrats.
Remember back in 2003, just before the start of the Iraq War, when the Dixie Chicks went to London and trashed their commander-in-chief?
“Just so you know,” said lead singer Natalie Maines, “we’re on the good side with y'all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the president of the United States is from Texas.”
It all sounded so edgy. And then, the roof fell in. Righteous anger erupted all across The Chicks’ mostly patriotic fanbase. Music sales plummeted, endorsements went away, concert gigs dried up, and bulldozers crushed their CDs.
Those were the days, right?
In retrospect, a more magnanimous me might’ve excused the faux-cool Maines at the time as a dumb show-business kid who’d been thoroughly indoctrinated in the latent leftism of her industry. Heck, I was still saying and doing stupid stuff when I was a twentysomething.
But what are we to make of older, ostensibly wiser politicians like Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Connecticut Democrat Senator Chris Murphy, who on Saturday joined other leftists in attendance at something called the Global Progressive Mobilization conference in Barcelona and proceeded to trash Donald Trump? Let’s remember: The Trump administration is working hard to broker a lasting peace deal with Iran — a peace deal that brings home our victorious troops, reopens the Strait of Hormuz, forces the rogue regime to cough up more than 900 pounds of enriched uranium, and keeps Iran from using nuclear blackmail to threaten its neighbors and the United States for decades to come. If ever the American people should be unified behind their president, this would be it, right?
Sadly, but predictably, neither Walz nor Murphy got the memo. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have set out to weaken their president’s negotiating hand during a time of war. Said the feeble-minded, trigger-averse, non-presidential Walz: “We’ve got a feeble-minded, trigger-happy president who plunged us into a war where no threat was present, with no clear objectives and no exit plan. We need to call that what it is. That’s fascism. Or at least it’s fascist curious.”
I don’t think that word means what he thinks it means, but I do remember back when language like that at a time like this was considered treasonous. Politics is supposed to end at the water’s edge, right?
Wrong. At least not with today’s norm-obliterating Democrat Party. I mean, this is Spain, for Pete’s sake — the NATO “ally” whose corrupt prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, refused to allow us to use his country’s bases or even its airspace.
“I’m not going to sugarcoat the gravity of what we face right now in the United States,” said Murphy. “This is the most significant threat to American democracy since [WAIT FOR IT!] the Civil War. Donald Trump in our country is trying to end our democracy.”
The delusional Murphy then added, “We are not on the verge of a totalitarian takeover, we are in the middle of it. He is trying to seize control of our courts, of our law enforcement, of our media, of our elections. His goal is oligarchic capture.”
Oligarchic capture? In what Ivy League faculty lounges do these guys even come up with language like this?
Murphy even took to social media to root for Iran, calling the news that 26 ships within the regime’s so-called shadow fleet had skirted the U.S. blockade “Awesome.” This is definitely treasonous language.
The two Democrats apparently love cozying up to commies because they were joined in Barcelona by a bevy of naked leftists, including Brazilian President and convicted money launderer Lula da Silva, Colombian President and former Marxist guerrilla Gustavo Petro, and America-hating Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Now, for Walz, all this could be about distraction. I mean, if I were a governor whose state had been overrun by Somali pirates, I’d probably do whatever I could to keep the citizens from thinking about my culpability — including hurling phony “fascist” charges at our current president on foreign soil.
But Murphy? What’s his excuse, other than maybe trying to carve out the far-left lane in a run for the presidency? Remember: The Democrats’ pollsters and power brokers are telling them they need to nominate a straight white male this time, and maybe Murphy wants to be in position when Gavin Newsom’s five-star hotel’s worth of baggage becomes too much for even the Democrats’ rabid base to bear.
The more I think about the Democrats’ Trump derangement, the more I think it’s rooted in self-loathing. Rooted in an inability to do what Trump does. We can recall all the tough talk from Obama, Biden, Hillary, Schumer, and the rest, but we never saw any action. Ever. I think Democrats hate Trump because they hate themselves. Because, deep down, they realize they’re fundamentally men and women of words alone, while Trump is a man of both words and action.
No wonder they trash him. No wonder they hate his guts. Heck, they hate themselves.
