The fact that The New York Times can air its grievances against the government and mock and deride the president of the country without consequence demonstrates the exact opposite of the point its authors often attempt to make. In a recent article, one writer tries to put President Donald Trump on par with the tyrant King George III, revealing how little leftists know about actual tyranny and the great lengths they will go to deceive their audience.

The author of the Times article in question, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Stacy Schiff, tries to make the case through various examples that Trump is just as tyrannical as King George, from whom our forebears declared independence in 1776. Once again, as the Left continuously does, this gives the permission structure for more violence not only against Trump, but against the current government. Schiff uses the list of 27 grievances laid at the door of the British crown in the Declaration of Independence as her proof of Trump’s abuse of power, willfully ignoring the fact that he isn’t acting any differently than previous presidents. He is often simply using the playbook laid out by Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and others and beating them at their own game.

Schiff starts with the first grievance listed in the Declaration, “He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good,” and asserts that Trump does this daily. She continues to rant that he has “endeavored to repeal science, mutilate history, cripple essential services, gut standards, corrupt the administration of justice, dismantle the oversight of government, undermine higher education, silence a free press, deprive the armed forces of effective leadership, thwart the political process and line its own pockets — all at once.” Yes, the man who was voted out of office, submitted to several phony cases filed against him, was convicted by the justice system as a felon, and who has the most transparent administration in decades, is refusing to assent to the laws of our country.

As usual, leftists turn a blind eye to the Biden crime family using the office to take in loads of cash and protecting their own from the law with pardons.

Schiff alleges that Trump’s keeping taxpayer money from going to poorly run and corrupt blue states is an “overreach.” She complains that he is “dictating policy to its governors” and that this is the same as the crown forbidding “his governors to pass laws of immediate importance.” No one’s keeping those blue states or their governors from passing laws. Trump’s just not going to reward overregulation, misuse of government funds, or corrupt programs with taxpayer money. That’s common sense.

The hysterical historian goes on to falsely claim that passing the SAVE Act will disenfranchise millions of Americans by keeping them from voting, which is somehow the same as King George refusing “to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people unless those people would relinquish the right of representation in the legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.” The only people who will be “disenfranchised” by the SAVE Act are fraudsters and noncitizens who shouldn’t be voting in our elections in the first place.

The British king took over the colonial judiciary, paying judges directly and removing them entirely from the people’s control. As the Founding Fathers wrote in the Declaration, “He has made judges dependent on his will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.” Schiff says this is akin to what Trump is doing by denouncing judges who don’t rule in his favor and replacing immigration judges who aren’t doing their job. It didn’t seem to raise any alarm bells when Obama, Biden, and every other president appointed or replaced judges. The Left dog-piled judges they hated, such as Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. If anything, there’s more of an issue with judges going after Trump’s policies and the laws of the country than the other way round.

Schiff outrageously compares the colonists murdered by British soldiers to Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and ICE agents to the British armies who were being quartered in colonist towns against their will. She opines, “Boston residents appreciated the troops housed in their public buildings about as much as the citizens of Minneapolis took to their occupiers, who were equipped with a selection of gear for close-quarters killing.” What an insult to the colonists who endured real oppression and violence, not pretend oppression and consequences that come from breaking the law.

She makes an incorrect comparison between the Founding Fathers’ grievance against King George, “For transporting us beyond seas to be tried for pretended offenses,” and deportations. “The Trump administration has outdone King George,” Schiff howls, “detaining and deporting American residents to countries where many of them had never before set foot.” I did notice she used the phrase, “American residents” as opposed to American citizens to make it seem that Trump is doing something illegal, which he clearly is not. Obama was known as “deporter-in-chief,” and yet leftists didn’t seem to have a problem with that “abuse of power.” That’s because he was their “king” (despite their “no kings” facade) and so he was lauded for it. As long as it’s their political party and their policies, it’s not labeled “tyranny” but rather “democracy” or “racial justice.”

The more obvious abuse of power and overreach comes from the Left and the Democrat Party. They fought tooth and nail with the lies of the Russia collusion hoax and the cover-up of the Hunter Biden laptop to keep their people in power, weaponizing the DOJ and other agencies to go after their political opponents. They forced people to get a vaccine, even to the point of losing their jobs or getting expelled from the military. The Biden DOJ went after Catholics and Christians for their “extremist” beliefs. They hold companies and organizations hostage if they don’t abide by their discriminatory DEI policies. They tirelessly advocate for socializing the healthcare system. They throw temper tantrums like two-year-olds across the country through riots and destruction when they don’t get their way, or because of some supposed “injustice.”

The Left will stop at nothing to get control of the country, including ignoring the laws of the land by flooding the country with illegals and allowing them to vote. As Justice Clarence Thomas wisely stated, “Progressivism is a political philosophy that poses an existential threat to the United States and its 18th-century founding principles.” President Trump is not the threat. He is doing the opposite of King George by eliminating burdensome regulations, taxes, and government.

In fact, the Left has a lot more in common with tyrannical King George, who struggled with mental illness and went permanently insane, just as they are.
