I had a great Memorial Day weekend. My wife and I were together with our children, and we all went to Chattanooga National Cemetery to honor our fallen. Desmond Doss, whose story is probably among the greatest of any of America’s Medal of Honor recipients, is laid to rest there. We have Marines who were murdered in 2015 by a jihadist interred there as well.

But then I made the mistake of turning on the news. Just when you think the Left can’t go any lower, it always seem to rise to the occasion.

One story was about Democrat political leaders in a very blue state spending their Memorial Day joining radical protesters at an ICE detention facility. I hope these protesters are paid well for making such fools of themselves on national TV. They were screaming, spitting, and snarling in the faces of ICE officers. Meanwhile, the Democrat leaders stood close to the protesters, listening to their sad stories about how the illegal immigrant criminals being held inside, many of them violent, were being mistreated. It was probably all made up, but the Democrat officials were very attentive to the slander of ICE agents who are only trying to do their jobs.

Another program showed clips of various “No Kings” rallies across the country. I wasn’t shocked by the vile rhetoric, cursing, and phony signs. I also wasn’t surprised when many couldn’t explain why they were even protesting. They apparently were paid to just suit up and show up. No need to know the reason — just curse and shout “No Kings!” to show they were serious about something or other.

What did shock me as a baby boomer were the hundreds of communist banners and signs in the crowd. For most of my lifetime, communists tried to keep a low profile, not wanting you to know they were there. They were just “down for the struggle.” Now, they are blatantly in everyone’s faces.

Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Zohran Mamdani, Graham Platner, and many others aren’t even hiding their socialist/Marxist agenda for America. Even more amazing is that this trend seems to be spreading all across the country as Democrats embrace candidates who are becoming more and more radical.

The Left says, “Silence is violence.” But in my opinion (when you get to Heaven, you’ll see I was right), when you keep silent about your views on right and wrong, you become part of the problem. When we are constantly bombarded by negative voices, we censor ourselves. I’ll keep repeating this, but we don’t have a political problem. We have a spiritual problem, and that requires an entirely different response.

Remember, there are more of us than the Left wants us to believe. We vastly outnumber the crazy radicals who want to destroy our country. We are a Christian nation, so we have a moral code for what is right and what is wrong. The answer to the problem is getting every Christian, every conservative, and every normal independent to register to vote, show up at the polls, and stand up for constitutional values.

President Ronald Reagan said it best:

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

To just surrender to a sense of inevitability will result in a country that’s no longer recognizable.
