With an algae bloom turning the newly renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool green and chunks of the “American Flag Blue” paint floating in the water, President Donald Trump declared that the pool had been vandalized. In the age of Trump Derangement Syndrome, that does seem to be the likeliest explanation.

Trump claimed that a “250 foot long gash” had been sliced in the pool’s new liner and that chemicals had been “illegally” put in the water. He warned that the law “will be fully enforced” against anyone caught vandalizing the pool.

As of Saturday evening, five people had been arrested and accused of vandalism, headlined by a three-time U.S. Olympian, 67-year-old David Carter Hearn. For his part, Hearn claims complete innocence, saying that he was merely reaching into the water to collect a piece of the floating blue paint when he was arrested. We’ll see what the evidence shows.

So significant is the damage that Trump noted the pool would have to be partially drained for repairs; however, he promised it would happen “as quickly as possible.”

The president posted on Truth Social:

Many additional people have been arrested having to do with the disgraceful Vandalism of our beautiful Reflecting Pool. It hasn’t looked or worked like this since 1922, when it was originally built, but even then, it leaked badly, and didn’t work. Ours worked perfectly, including the mirror like finish, perfectly reflecting the two Great Monuments, which it never had before! What these terrible Vandals have done is a true affront to both Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, and should be dealt with accordingly.

Trump wants to throw the book at those guilty of vandalizing the newly refurbished pool, which cost nearly $15 million to renovate, calling for “years in jail” for the perpetrators.

Almost with glee, the Leftmedia had fixed on the story of Trump’s efforts to clean up the reflecting pool, including its apparent subsequent vandalism. The Washington Post reported, “A small group of activists who called themselves ‘Team Algae’ — including a member dressed as a purple frog — took up position in front of the Lincoln Memorial, cheering on the algae as a symbol of resistance to the Trump administration.”

Get a life, folks.

Meanwhile, the grass mall in between the Washington Monument and the World War II Memorial was also vandalized. Someone sprayed it with herbicide to spell out the numbers “86, 47” in the lawn. Whatever happened to concern for the environment?

The Leftmedia has been deeply concerned (ahem) about the $15 renovation cost, but that will now increase due to this vandalism. Where was the media outrage over the tens of billions in welfare program fraud, or the blind eye that officials in states like Minnesota and California apparently turned to it? Where was the media’s investigative journalism digging into the story and holding elected officials to account?

Instead, the media has wasted energy and effort fixating on Trump’s Washington, DC, beautification efforts, as if it were a terrible thing. It’s almost as if the Leftmedia has intentionally ignored reporting on anything that makes Democrats look bad, and takes every opportunity to negatively portray everything that Trump engages in. It’s TDS.

Apparently, that media fixation has resulted in some crazed individuals believing that damaging and destroying our national monuments is a legitimate form of protest against a president they don’t like. This is the type of childish reasoning that is unfortunately all too common on the Left today.

Hopefully, those guilty of damaging the Reflecting Pool will pay for their crimes, if not their hatred of America.
