During his presidency, Barack Obama said, “We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.” Recently, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine said, “The statement that our rights do not come from our laws or our governments is extremely troubling.”

Both of these men are either historically ignorant or willfully deceptive. Due to my spiritual gift of “suspicion” (sarcasm alert), I lean toward the latter.

I’m neither a historian nor a political analyst, but I can read books. I suppose that’s why our overpaid and biblically ignorant teachers’ union leaders work so hard to bury our past and deny our history. In many schools, students today are purposely denied the facts about the greatness of this country.

It must have driven the Left crazy to see so many Americans celebrate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. The Declaration of Independence contains everything you need to know about why we declared our independence from England. It says:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed

Our Constitution is unlike that of any other nation. Our rights come from God, and the government receives its authority from the governed: us, American citizens. It always amazes me when progressives — i.e., socialists/Marxists — say they’re trying to protect “democracy.” They would be a lot more convincing if they actually knew what they were talking about. The Constitution — an amazing, God-inspired document — has guided our nation for hundreds of years, serving as the guardrails to keep us on course.

Naturally, leftists can’t have our kids being taught what the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution actually say. This makes it easier to propagate the lie that America is evil and was built by slaves owned by rich white men. Yet no matter what the Left says, America was a nation founded by godly men. That faith has been evident throughout the history of our nation.

America was always God’s plan, from Christopher Columbus to this day. God was at work in the background, directing men’s steps to accomplish His will. It wasn’t a coincidence that the First Great Awakening came to America, changing the entire moral fabric of the nation before the Revolutionary War. It also wasn’t a coincidence that Colonel George Washington, who was shot at during the French and Indian War, lived to become the general who led America to defeat the British and who became our first president.

I could write page after page citing the Hand of Providence in guiding this nation to where it is today.

I was not raised in a Christian home, but as a student, I loved history, and when I graduated from school, serving my country was an honor for my brother and me. Nothing before or since has ever changed my mind. We are not, and have never claimed to be, a perfect nation. That’s impossible, because there are no perfect people, which is why the Marxist dream of a utopia is also impossible to achieve.

God’s plan for America still continues today. If you look around, you can see His hand moving in the affairs of man. His plan will not be overthrown by radicals who want to burn society down and rebuild it in their own image.
