Another 2A Victory in Illinois
The Illinois Supreme Court acquiesces to Constitution and Second Amendment.
The Illinois Supreme Court has ruled that the right to keep and bear arms extends outside the home. In Alberto Aguilar v. The People of the State of Illinois, the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence argued that “the carrying of firearms in public places creates serious public safety risks.”
The Court, however, cited the U.S. Supreme Court’s Heller and McDonald decisions, noting that neither “expressly limits the second amendment’s protections to the home. On the contrary both decisions contain language strongly suggesting if not outright confirming that the second amendment right to keep and bear arms extends beyond the home.”
We’re glad to see both common sense and the plain reading of the Second Amendment prevail once again.
