Trust in ‘American People’ Is Down
Americans perception of other Americans is declining.
Gallup’s latest poll reveals that “Americans’ trust in ‘the American people’ to make judgments about political issues facing the country has declined each year since 2009 and, at 61%, is down nearly 20 percentage points from its recent peak in 2005.”
In other words, yes, Barack Obama won re-election, but it would seem a growing number of people don’t trust other voters. Perhaps that comes hand in hand with half the country voting for the hand that feeds them. The other half of the country that pays the bills is getting fed up.
