Income Tax Is 100
Oh how things have changed.
Yesterday marked the 100th anniversary of the federal income tax. The Manhattan Institute has several things to note. And on top of that, Timothy Nash, a professor of free market economics at Northwood University, notes, “In 1913, the tax code consisted of 400 pages. By 2012, the tax code was 73,608 pages.” Finally, it’s also worth remembering that the income tax is why we have the IRS, which is now politicized to the point of aiding the election of a president by targeting his political foes.
