National Park Service director Jonathan Jarvis told Congress Wednesday that he spoke with the White House about the plan to barricade the World War II Memorial, though he says, “I actually do not know who was on the phone.” Jarvis also indicated that there are the same number of security personnel on the Mall as before the shutdown, but that “our intelligence indicate that there has been an uptick … in potential threats.” Must be all those Tea Party terrorists the White House is afraid of, because it couldn’t possibly be the illegal immigration protesters the Park Service welcomed to the Mall during the shutdown.
