New York Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo really stepped in it recently when he said, "[T]hese extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay … they have no place in the state of New York." Like an abusive husband, he now says he didn't mean it. "I was not saying anyone should leave the state, right, and anyone who heard the comments knows that's not what I was saying. ... We can agree to disagree, and everyone has a right to an opinion." We're guessing that's not going to make conservatives actually feel welcome.
