‘Zero Evidence’ for Standard Mags
Judge says there’s no good reason.
“I see precious few cases where a homeowner has warded off an intruder with 10 or more bullets,” said U.S. District Judge William Alsup to begin a hearing regarding San Francisco’s ban on standard-capacity ammunition magazines. “You have zero evidence … that these oversize magazines are used for common self-defense.” Memo to Judge Alsup: We have the right to “keep and bear arms” in part because the inside of our homes isn’t the only place we might encounter bad guys or tyrants. Furthermore, if we have to take down two or more assailants with only six or seven rounds, we’ll need a better on-target rate than the NYPD’s 18%. But the point isn’t statistics, it’s the Constitution. You should try reading it. Your Honor.
