Bending the Cost Curve
Up, but still bent.
In 2012, Nancy Pelosi boasted that “everybody will have lower rates” thanks to ObamaCare. Not so much. After delaying the report for two years, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services finally (and quietly) admitted that ObamaCare will cause 65% of small businesses to pay more for health insurance. The other one-third may see lower premiums, but that still leaves 11 million workers facing lower wages to allow employers to remain in business. Worse, The Washington Post reports, “Ninety-six percent of small businesses say their premiums have increased in the past five years, with the average monthly insurance cost soaring from $590 per employee in 2009 to $1,121 in 2014, according to poll released earlier this month by the National Small Business Administration.” And the employer mandate hasn’t even kicked in yet.
