Remedial History Needed
“400 years” of constitutional government.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) doesn’t know when the Constitution was ratified. Taking the House floor Wednesday to oppose the ENFORCE the Law Act, she said, “Maybe I should offer a good thanks to the distinguished members of the majority – the Republicans, my chairman and others – for giving us an opportunity to have a deliberative constitutional discussion that reinforces the sanctity of this nation and how well it is that we have lasted some 400 years, operating under a constitution that clearly defines what is constitutional and what is not.” The Constitution, of course, was ratified 225 years ago, in 1788. To be fair, we’re surprised she knows we have a Constitution. She and her fellow Democrats certainly don’t abide by their oaths to support and defend it.
