Geneva Meeting on Ukraine
Leaders discuss options.
Ukraine is still in turmoil as its foreign minister met with his Russian, American and EU counterparts Thursday in Geneva. The topic of discussion was how to calm growing tensions in eastern Ukraine, primarily stoked by Russia. Not that the Russians admit that. Indeed, Vladimir Putin called Ukrainian efforts to quell the unrest “a serious crime,” and warned that he’s ready to send in his own military to secure peace. Precisely the opposite of reality. Western officials, meanwhile, are still threatening further sanctions against Moscow for its role. It will take more than today’s meeting to bring resolution.
