Half a Billion Dollars Wasted
On failed state exchanges
Remember how Healthcare.gov crashed like the Hindenburg blimp? That’s happening at four state-level exchanges. At least a half a billion dollars were flushed by the states’ versions of Healthcare.gov. Instead of fixing the problem, some states want to drop their boondoggle websites for the federal website, but six Republican senators want the states that built now-abandoned to pay the money back. “Enough is enough,” Sen. John Barrasso said, one of the authors of the bill introduced into the Senate. “States that scrap their state-run ObamaCare exchanges are admitting they’ve wasted millions of dollars in federal grants. It’s only fair that states have to pay American taxpayers and the federal government back for their total incompetence.” But the sword cuts both ways. The federal government would get its money back, but at the expense of the states’ taxpayers who would be left footing the bill for money already gone.
