HHS Needs Ethics
Could we be test subjects and not know it?
The battle over ethics in government-run medical studies is heating up. The Department of Health and Human Services misled parents of premature babies in a study where it manipulated the oxygen levels the babies received. As the parents are criticizing HHS, some “experts” are defending the ethics of the study. The Daily Signal reports: “Some researchers appear to be turning criticism of SUPPORT on its head. They argue that informed consent should be suspended altogether in such studies, which they contend merely evaluated an already-approved, widely used ‘standard of care’ treatment.” There are ethics, and there are things called selfish justifications.
