Paul Defends Immigration
The senator says he didn’t utter the A-word.
Senator Rand Paul’s (R-KY) backing of an establishment-Republican push for immigration reform drew criticism from Tea Party folks who said he was advocating amnesty for illegal immigrants. “I do not support amnesty,” Paul wrote in an op-ed at Breitbart, “which is why I don’t support our current system with no border security and a blind eye to the problem. I support legal, not illegal, immigration. We must embrace immigration and immigrants, and we must recognize that our country has been enriched by those who seek the freedom to make better lives for themselves. However, our current system is broken, and we cannot move towards reform until our border is truly and fully secure.” Paul’s right. More…
