Damned If You Water the Lawn, Damned If You Don’t
As California buckles down to weather a drought, the state’s Water Resources Control Board announced it will start fining people $500 a day if they are caught wasting water by doing things like washing cars and watering lawns. But it’s simply the case of picking which regulation poison to take. One couple in Glendora, California, received a letter from their local government that read, “Despite the water conservation efforts, we wish to remind you that limited watering is still required to keep landscaping looking healthy and green.” The couple had 60 days to get their lawn to an acceptable level of green or they would face a … $500 fine.
