Gore Sues Al Jazeera Over Current TV Deal
Remember that time Al Jazeera agreed to buy Current TV for $500 million? The channel was founded by Al-G'ore in 2005, and he personally saw to it that the channel was available in millions of households by twisting the arms of cable providers. Eventually, he sold the channel to Al Jazeera – a company owned by Qatar’s royal and oil-wealthy family. That hypocrisy wasn’t enough to dissuade Gore’s payday, and now he’s suing them for fraud and breach of contract. The New York Times reports, “The dispute centers on Al Jazeera’s refusal to turn over ‘tens of millions of dollars’ remaining in an escrow account and still owed to the selling shareholders of Current TV.” Of course, this is really just an entertaining reality show for some of us.
