Bacon Is Not An Endorsement of Religion

Sneakers Bistro and Café had a pretty clever way of advertising in the town of Winooski, Vermont. It kept a garden in the middle of an intersection and installed a yellow yield sign that read, “Yield for Sneakers Bacon.” And if an endorsement by Esquire Magazine is any indication, Sneakers has some good bacon. But the bacon haters of the world took offense. A woman who identified herself as Muslim complained on a local web forum that bacon is offensive, apparently, to Jews, Muslims and PETA. The restaurant, to be as politically correct as possible, took down the sign. While Sneakers is in its rights to advertise, or not advertise, the best meat on earth, let’s be clear for the PC police in the government that the word “bacon” is not a code word for some religion. As evidence for the non-separation of bacon and state, we found a few images of bacon on government websites. Enjoy them, but enjoy your bacon more…
