CBS Thinks Pledge of Allegiance Is Too Political
CBS Sports Network refused to run a local ad of a little girl saying the Pledge of Allegiance because they said it was too political. Instead of the usual quality of local TV ads (see here, here and here, or not) this ad designed for the broadcast of Wranglers Champions Challenge rodeo was better than most. But the pledge, something designed to bring unity, apparently is not politically correct. The Tri-City Herald reports, “This was the first time Dave Praino, co-owner of PS Media, has had an issue like this with one of his client’s ads. ‘It’s amazing,’ he said. ‘I’m still trying to scratch my head to figure out what’s political about the Pledge of Allegiance.’” We’re trying to figure it out too. Was it the words “under God”? Perhaps pledging allegiance to the flag rubbed some producer the wrong way. What is puzzling the most is that the broadcast, a rodeo, is not exactly ISIL-TV. More…
