Feinstein’s Gun Ban Didn’t Work. Again. Still.

According to a new report by ProPublica, Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s 1994 ban on “assault weapons” did nothing to reduce crime or murder. In a press release this month marking the ban’s 20 year anniversary, Feinstein insisted, “The evidence is clear: the ban worked.” ProPublica replies, “Except there’s no evidence it saved lives – and the researcher behind the key statistic Feinstein cites says it’s an outdated figure that was based on a false assumption.” Never mind stubborn facts, though. Feinstein pushed to have her ban renewed last year in response to Sandy Hook. The ban targeted primarily rifles with certain cosmetic features.
