ISIL Threatens to Behead Former Army Ranger
ISIL released a video of the beheading of British aid worker Alan Henning as an act of propaganda Friday and threatened to behead former Army Ranger Peter Kassig. After leaving the military, Kassig returned to the Middle East to work with Syrian refugees. ISIL captured him last October and in captivity, Kassig converted to Islam. “If I do die,” Kassig wrote to his parents, “I figure that at least you and I can seek refuge and comfort in knowing that I went out as a result of trying to alleviate suffering and helping those in need.” According to SITE Intelligence Group, ISIL released a handful of videos with the beheading video of Henning in response to the airstrikes by the United States. They were all designed to bring a propaganda war to the West’s monitors but it also contained a cry for help. In one video, ISIL pleaded for western Muslims to help them fight.
