Earth’s surface temperature isn’t the only thing experiencing a hiatus. Last year’s quiet season saw just two hurricanes and an Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) index of just 39%, the lowest since 1994, according to NOAA. This year is destined to be even more tranquil. CBS News reports, “[The] Atlantic hurricane season is shaping up to be one of the weakest in decades with only five named storms formed in the region so far this year. That’s the fewest named storms formed during a single full season in the Atlantic since 1983, when there were four.” And time is quickly running out – Nov. 30 marks the official end of the tropical season, and just two more developments are prognosticated over the next eight weeks. To their credit, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center called for a quieter than average hurricane season. But one of climate alarmists’ claims is that hurricanes across all oceanic regions will increase in both number and intensity, which clearly has not been the case.
