Good News: Abortions Declined in 2011
According to the Centers for Disease Control, there were 730,322 reported abortions in 2011. This is a decrease from the 765,651 reported to the CDC in 2010. While there is incremental progress, there is opportunity to drastically reduce the number of abortions in the United States. The vast majority of abortions come from single mothers, as 85.5% of abortions came from unmarried women. RedState also reports 58% of all abortions come from mothers in their 20s. Black women still abort their pregnancies at higher rates than other demographics. One-third of all black babies were aborted in 2011, according to the CDC as black women had 474 abortions per 1,000 births.
