No, WaPo, Clinton Is Not Pro-Second Amendment
The NRA gets four “Pinocchios” for telling the truth.
The Washington Post is taking aim at the National Rifle Association again, this time over a new ad that depicts Hillary Clinton as antithetical to the Second Amendment. In the video, the NRA says Hillary “doesn’t believe in your right to keep a gun at home for self-defense.” Naturally, the Post’s “Fact Checker” rushed to Clinton’s defense, calling the statement a “false claim” and further editorializing that her “public positions on gun control are far less extreme than suggested by the ad. Her main focus has been on taking steps that she contends would reduce gun violence.” The NRA was therefore awarded four “Pinocchios” by the Post, which concluded, “While the NRA does not go so far as to claim that Clinton wants to abolish the Second Amendment, the wording of its claim suggests that.”
This latest salvo is reminiscent of the Leftmedia’s frenzy over Trump’s recent suggestion that “Hillary wants to abolish … the Second Amendment.” Yet we have every reason to believe that, if given the choice, of course she’d abolish it. Last September Clinton lambasted the crucial Heller decision, claiming “the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment, and I am going to make that case every chance I get.” Shortly thereafter, she admitted she’d be willing to consider an Australia-style gun confiscation program. She is, as illustrated in her own words, as anti-gun as they come.
