Geriatric Twitter Battle
Elizabeth Warren “defends” Kirsten Gillibrand from Donald Trump in just about the worst possible way.
What happens when you have two septuagenarians duking it out on Twitter? Hilarity, that’s what. First, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) demanded that President Donald Trump resign from office over the sexual harassment allegations Democrats plan to ramp back up. Naturally, Trump not only isn’t going to have some sort of epiphany and follow her advice, he’s going to hit back twice as hard.
“Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump,” he tweeted. In the current climate of sexual misconduct allegations — even more so because that’s why Gillibrand called for his resignation — it was predictable that people would make sexual inferences from Trump’s tweet. Perhaps he didn’t mean it that way, but most likely he did.
But that’s not even the amusing part. No, that came when Sen. Elizabeth “Fauxcahontas” Warren rushed to Gillibrand’s defense. “Are you really trying to bully, intimidate and slut-shame @SenGillibrand?” she tweeted to Trump. Uh, with friends like these… The literal definition of “slut-shaming” is to “[s]tigmatize (a woman) for engaging in behavior judged to be promiscuous or sexually provocative.” In other words, Warren “defended” Gillibrand by essentially conceding that she’s guilty of the very behavior Trump insinuated.
Maybe instead of trying to be so “hip,” Warren should stick to claims of Native American ancestry.
