Clinton’s Latest Excuse for Losing: Capitalism

Hillary suggests that electing more Democrats is the only way to save capitalism.

Continuing her “What Happened and how it’s not my fault” tour, Hillary Clinton on Wednesday was asked whether she believed that her comments on being a capitalist hurt her election chances, specifically with Democrats. Clinton answered, “Probably. It’s hard to know, but if you’re in the Iowa Caucuses and 41% of Democrats are socialists or self-described socialists, and I’m asked, ‘Are you a capitalist,’ and I say, ‘Yes, but with appropriate regulation, appropriate accountability,’ you know, that probably gets lost in, ‘Oh, my gosh, she’s a capitalist!’”

Hillary might be on to something on here, although not because she was outed as a free-market capitalist but rather because she was exposed for what she truly is — a political opportunist. During the Democrat primaries, the popularity of avowed socialist Bernie Sanders forced Clinton into giving up any centrist political positions as she willingly moved hard left in an attempt to obscure any significant policy distinctions. Recall her jumping on board Sanders’ platform of a $15 minimum wage and free college, only to back off slightly during the general election.

Moreover, Clinton’s answer to the question of being a capitalist is also aimed at propping up Democrats for the midterms. In her interview, Clinton described the reputation of capitalism in America as “pretty much in tatters for young people.” As evidence, she pointed to supposed income inequality. She then laid the blame for capitalism’s “tattered” reputation at the feet of Republicans. You know, since they just gave everyone in America a huge tax cut — without a single Democrat vote. Of course, Clinton’s solution to the problem is giving leftists more power to redistribute the earnings of hard-working Americans. Funny, Hillary’s prescription for fixing capitalism sounds a lot like socialism.
