The Case for Trump’s Reelection Is Clear

His list of accomplishments should please even conservatives worried about character.

Just days before the 2020 election, President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are making their final pitches to voters.

Biden’s campaign strategy has been to hide in his basement and let his media allies attack President Trump relentlessly, allowing Biden to avoid explaining why, after nearly a half-century as a U.S. senator and vice president, his list of accomplishments is … that he was a senator and VP. The one significant accomplishment Biden can point to — the 1994 crime bill he drafted as a senator — is now a political liability, having sent countless thousands of black men to prison with arguably excessive sentences.

As for President Trump, had he been anyone other than Donald Trump, the truly staggering list of accomplishments in his first three years is so vast that he’d rightly be placed among the greatest presidents in American history.

While cutting eight regulations for every new one created, President Trump signed into law the 2017 GOP Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, slashing personal and corporate income tax rates. Combined with the USMCA (U.S.-Mexico-Canada) trade agreement, a wave of economic prosperity and investment was unleashed.

Within two years, the Trump economy created seven million new jobs (500,000 in manufacturing alone), achieving the lowest black and Hispanic unemployment rate in history, the lowest poverty rate in 60 years, and a 50-year-low unemployment rate of 3.5%, resulting in median household income record highs in 2018 and 2019, quadrupling the gains under Barack Obama.

Despite New York Times writer and Nobel economist Paul Krugman’s prediction of a global depression following Trump’s 2016 victory, America saw more than 70 new stock market record highs in just his first year, drastically increasing the value of retirement accounts for the middle class.

And despite a global pandemic and the forced shutdown of a very strong economy, and despite a dip this week following news of a spike in COVID-19 infections, the stock market closed Tuesday at 27,463.49, nearly 40% higher than the day Obama and Biden left the White House.

Though slandered as a racist, President Trump signed into law criminal justice reform, returning thousands of formerly imprisoned black men to their families. He also provided record, long-term funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and created and funded 8,800 Opportunity Zones, with more than $75 billion in investments in poor minority communities.

President Trump has also been a staunch defender of the sanctity of life and religious freedom. Upon taking office, he reinstated Ronald Reagan’s Mexico City Policy, banning taxpayer funding of abortions overseas, and stripped Planned Parenthood of $60 million in taxpayer funding with pro-life Title X restrictions.

He also repealed ObamaCare’s contraception mandate, formed a Religious Liberty Task Force at the Justice Department, and issued an executive order requiring all federal agencies to “vigorously enforce … robust protections for religious freedom.”

Arguably his most enduring achievement will be the reformation of the federal judiciary, appointing 220 conservative judges who will spend the next 30-40 years interpreting the Constitution as written, not as progressives wish it to be. Amazingly, President Trump has filled all circuit court vacancies.

These appointments include Supreme Court Justices Neal Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and just this week, the stellar Amy Coney Barrett, giving the Court a solid 6-3 conservative majority (when Chief Justice Roberts doesn’t defect to the progressive wing). The importance of this historic shift in the Court’s judicial philosophy simply can’t be overstated, considering how many of our constitutional rights were retained by a bare 5-4 thread over the last 15 years.

Trump’s foreign and national defense policies have likewise been stellar.

Despite protests that doing so would launch new wars in the Middle East, President Trump unmistakably declared the strength of the American/Israeli alliance by moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

In response, rather than new wars, we have seen President Trump announce, in a matter of just weeks, his administration’s brokering of new peace treaties between Israel and the Islamic nations of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Sudan, as well as between Serbia and Kosovo.

President Trump has also put hostile actors Russia, Iran, and China on notice that the U.S. will not tolerate threats to America or her allies, backing up those warnings by forcing allied NATO countries to increase defense spending and military readiness and by issuing damaging economic sanctions. Additional sanctions and tariffs have been levied on Communist China in response to human rights abuses and unfair trade practices.

And if that were not warning enough, President Trump directed the American military to crush the ISIS caliphate and kill its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and then kill Iranian terror mastermind General Qassem Soleimani.

One of Trump’s greatest achievements is what he has not done. Ridiculously hyperbolic claims that he’s a fascist tyrant notwithstanding, President Trump has shown impressive restraint in his response to the COVID-19 pandemic, opting to respect the constitutional limitations of his executive power, providing guidance and resources to the states but allowing them to dictate their own responses.

This is the exact opposite of what a tyrant does, though Democrat governors have shown us what tyranny looks like.

President Donald Trump’s list of economic, national defense, foreign policy, pro-Rule of Law conservative policy achievements has been nothing short of astonishing. Were it not for the relentless dishonest attacks by the Democrats and the media (but we repeat ourselves), President Trump’s election victory next week would be a foregone conclusion.

He deserves another four years, and America desperately needs him.
