What if 45 Went Foghorn Leghorn?
Can you imagine if President Trump called one of his black senior advisers “a boy”?
If you grew up like I did, “Looney Tunes” was on rotation on Saturday morning cartoons. It was pure comedy watching Bugs Bunny and crew prank each other to no end. One of my favorite characters was Foghorn Leghorn. The way he talked and how he hit people over the head with bats had me laughing to tears.
“I say now boy, pay attention boy. Pay attention when I’m talking to you, boy! I say, I’m gonna take you out to the woods and learn you about scouting and woodcraft. You got to be a magician to keep a boy’s attention.”
If you didn’t catch a laugh from that commentary, I sure did. However, there’s something not funny about when the president of the United States calls one of his advisors “a boy.”
“We’re waiting for a few more people to get on, but we’re going to get started if that’s okay with you all,” Biden said. “… I’m here with my senior adviser and boy who knows Louisiana very, very well, man — and New Orleans and — Cedric Richmond.” Can you imagine if President Trump called one of his black senior advisers on camera “a boy”? Every liberal media outlet would be plastering this clip ad nauseam. He would be called a hater and a racist.
Richmond represented Louisiana in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 until leaving Congress to work in Biden’s White House earlier this year. He became a senior adviser in the Executive Office of the President and has often defended Biden to Black America, even claiming that Biden was taking the issue of reparations seriously.
Curtis Houck, managing editor of the conservative blog NewsBusters, tweeted, “Not only does Biden not sound great here, but also called Cedric Richmond ‘boy,’ something the left would lose it if he were a Republican.”
When former President Donald Trump called Gregory Cheadle “my African American” during a 2016 presidential rally, it not only made the news but caused a major backlash against Trump. Trump was vilified. The context wasn’t racist, but that didn’t stop the Leftmedia from spinning it like a broken record.
Foghorn Leghorn was funny when he called his cartoon characters “boy.” However, it’s not a laughing matter when you’re a senior adviser being called a “boy” by the president of the United States of America. The double standard is real, boy.
