Tuesday Executive News Summary

Abrams snubs Biden, economy biggest worry, McCarthy promises Dems taste of own medicine, Maher refuses to reject Trump voters, and more.

Top of the Fold

  • Abrams snubs Biden’s Georgia gaslighting: Joe Biden is heading down to Atlanta to stump for the Democrats’ dubious bill federalizing election law. Biden plans to continue his false smear campaign against Georgia’s voter integrity laws, which he ridiculously likened to “Jim Crow.” Biden is already underwater in the Peach State, and on the day Georgia celebrates having just won the college football championship, he’s going there to declare to the rest of the country just how awful and terrible the state is. This may be why Stacey Abrams, whose entire political brand is built on complaining about voter integrity laws and refusing to accept election results, says she’s too busy to bother attending.

  • Economy, not COVID, is biggest worry for Americans: Recent polling from the Associated Press found that the top concern for Americans is not COVID but the sorry state of the U.S. economy. Some 68% of Americans listed the economy and growing inflation as their top worry going into 2022, whereas just 37% of Americans see the ongoing pandemic as one of the top five issues. These result don’t bode well for Democrats hoping to retain control of Congress, which likely explains Biden’s shift to focusing on fearmongering against voting integrity laws with the continued refrain of “democracy under threat.” Clearly, for the majority of Americans, the economy is what’s under threat.

  • McCarthy promises Dems a taste of their own medicine: House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has promised to kick three Democrats off their committees should the Republicans win control of the House in November. “The Democrats have created a new thing where they’re picking and choosing who can be on committees,” McCarthy observed. “Never in the history [of Congress] have you had the majority tell the minority who can be on committee. But this [is the] new standard which these Democrats have voted for.” The three Democrats whom McCarthy pinpointed for committee removal are Eric Swalwell (Homeland Security), Ilhan Omar (Foreign Affairs), and Adam Schiff (Intelligence Committee).

  • Bill Maher refuses to reject Trump voters: Lefty comedian/pundit Bill Maher is refusing to buy into the Democrats’ and Leftmedia’s January 6 narrative that demonizes Trump supporters as a threat to democracy. Noting the deep political division in the country, Maher argued: “This idea that we have to constantly be arguing politics with everybody — that’s what has to stop. Because when you take the politics out of the discussion — and this is coming from a person who made his living talking politics — you find that people are just people, and you can’t hate them. I constantly say it, you can hate Trump. You can’t hate all the people who like him — it’s half the country. And you can’t set yourself up as some sort of superior moral paragon, because this is your political belief, and somebody else has another one.”
