Preaching to the Choir
Character and integrity are critical qualities in our elected officials. Without those, we will be ruled by tyrants.
I’ve said it a number of times before, but it bears repeating, especially in light of the current administration in Washington: Character and integrity are critical qualities in our elected officials. Without those, we will be ruled by tyrants!
Politicians without character and integrity have always been around. As a Baby Boomer, it was very evident in the election of Bill Clinton. George H. W. Bush served as VP for eight years, then was elected as our 41st president. During his first term, Bush put together a coalition of nations to forcibly expel Saddam Hussein and his Republican Guard out of Kuwait. His approval rating went through the roof!
When Bush Sr. ran against a political lightweight, not well known and already under a cloud of scandal, he made a critical tactical error in his campaign strategy. As a member of the “Greatest Generation,” he assumed U.S. citizens still desired character and integrity in elected officials. But the culture had changed. Voters wanted “cool” candidates, settling for personality and charisma instead. We’ve paid the price ever since.
Barack Obama was also considered “cool,” exhibiting a ton of charisma and personality on the campaign trail. As a result, we had eight years of a man who hated what America stood for, wanting to turn it into something totally different. He did a lot of damage.
Donald Trump also had a lot of personality and charisma, but like others before him, he had a deficit in the character and integrity departments. But he at least loved our country, its economy, and especially our military. He was able to slow the progress of the socialists/Marxists who wanted to remake America into their version of utopia (think Venezuela or Cuba).
Trump’s reelection was marred by many things, especially easier access to mail-in ballots and directives not approved by state legislatures. We all know how that turned out. Now we have the presidency of Joe Biden who, in my opinion, is the most unqualified person to ever hold office.
Biden ran unsuccessfully for president twice, in 1987 and 2007. His first campaign derailed quickly after a plagiarism scandal. Biden loved to inflate his resume, making himself more important than he really was. That’s never stopped. He seems to be a pathological liar. He can’t help himself. Even today, he still tells stories that were proven false years ago. We’re supposed to say, “Well, that’s just Joe!” A lie is a lie no matter who tells it.
This is a man who spent the greater part of his presidential campaign in his basement trying to control the damage incurred when he did speak. Now we’re to believe he received eight million more votes than Obama did in his first term. I guess I’m a conspiracy theorist, too!
Biden has done more damage to America in one year than Obama did in eight. While his character and integrity qualities are nonexistent, his mental issues place our nation at great risk. Think of Biden seemingly giving Putin a green light to invade Ukraine.
When will we learn that character and integrity are not just nice qualities to have but essential to the prosperity and safety of our country? God help us learn this lesson before it’s too late.
Something to pray about!
