Avenatti Gets a Second Comeuppance

The Leftmedia darling and former presidential hopeful was found guilty of having stolen money from Stormy Daniels.

Attorney Michael Avenatti, the smug, sleazy Trump-hater best known for his almost daily appearances on CNN, MSNBC, and “The View,” is now facing up to 22 years in prison, having been convicted Friday by a Manhattan jury for stealing $300,000. From a stripper.

Dude is lower that squid poop in the Mariana Trench. “Rather than advise his clients in their best interests, Avenatti instead used his law degree as a license to steal,” said U.S. Attorney Damian Williams.

Avenatti, 50, the only lawyer in the world who’d never heard the old adage that a man who represents himself in court has a fool for a client, did indeed represent himself in court. He spent five hours cross-examining the plaintiff, Stormy Daniels, and it didn’t get any better than when he asked her about a statement she’d made on his behalf:

Avenatti: Didn’t you tell the New York Times that watching me work was like watching the Sistine Chapel painted?

Daniels: That’s what you told me to say.

From there, the only real question was whether Avenatti wanted a wig to go with his orange jumpsuit. As Reuters reports:

Daniels, the prosecution’s star witness, testified that Avenatti had led her to believe her publisher had not disbursed advance payments totaling $297,500 for her memoir, ‘Full Disclosure,’ when she asked in 2018 and early 2019 about the delays. She said she later learned that Avenatti had diverted the money to an account he controlled, without telling her. “I felt very betrayed and stupid,” Daniels said. “Michael had been lying and stealing from me.”

“I’m very disappointed in the jury’s verdict,” he said after being found guilty of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. “I am looking forward to a full adjudication of all of the issues on appeal.”

If Daniels’s memoir is indeed titled Full Disclosure, Avenatti’s might be titled Porn Loser. In any case, he’ll have to wait until May 25 to learn what his sentence is. Until then, we can take comfort in knowing the Tucker Carlson’s “Creepy Porn Lawyer” is now on a two-lawsuit losing streak, having been found guilty two years ago of having tried to extort $25 million from Nike. Said U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman at the time: “While the defendant may have tried to hide behind legal terms and a suit and tie, the jury clearly saw the defendant’s scheme for what it was — an old-fashioned shakedown.”

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, rose to Leftmedia stardom when it was reported that she’d received $130,000 in hush money from Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, “in exchange for remaining quiet ahead of the 2016 election about sexual encounters she says she had with Trump, which he has denied.”

Of course, the disgrace here belongs not only to Avenatti but to the mainstream media, which, in the throes of Trump Derangement Syndrome, was desperate to turn a scummy shakedown artist into an anti-Trump hero. As the Daily Signal’s video mashup below makes clear, they just couldn’t stop squealing about him as a potential 2020 presidential candidate.

The lesson: Avenatti is a louse. And the Leftmedia is a lousy judge of character.
