Wednesday Executive News Summary
Biden set to announce climate executive orders and halt border prosecutions, COVID school protocol déjà vu, and more.
Top of the Fold
It’s a climate emergency: “Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry’s family jet has emitted over 300 metric tons of carbon dioxide since the Biden administration began, federal data shows,” according to Fox News. “Kerry’s family jet, a Gulfstream GIV-SP, has made a total of 48 trips lasting more than 60 hours and emitted an estimated 715,886 pounds, or 325 metric tons, of carbon since President Biden was sworn into office.” We’re glad he’s taking the climate seriously. This story is especially bad optics given that Kerry’s boss, Joe Biden, is set to announce a series of climate executive orders later today. According to the White House, Biden will beat the same old drum: “Climate change is an existential threat to our nation and to the world.” Therefore, “Since Congress is not going to act on this emergency, then he will.”
It’s a border emergency: U.S. Customs and Border Protection shattered records for arrests of illegal migrants in June, apprehending 207,416 people for illegally crossing Joe Biden’s intentionally opened border. Illegal crossings were down a bit from May’s all-time record of 240,991, but June was the fourth month in 2022 with more than 200,000 arrests, and Border Patrol agents have apprehended an astounding 2.5 million people since last June. Last month’s number also marks a 310% increase over the average June during Donald Trump’s administration. What’s Biden going to do about it? Halt prosecutions for most illegal crossings.
COVID school protocol déjà vu: We at The Patriot Post have thoroughly documented the wreckage of the COVID pandemic on our younglings. Whether it’s emotional or academic, the impact has been severe, particularly for those whose in-class learning environment was upended. But in blue cities and states, the definition of insanity — doing the same thing again but expecting a different result — is rearing its ugly head. The Washington Free Beacon reports: “More than two years after San Diego first instituted a COVID-19 mask mandate, city schools are reinstating masks for students. Any child who doesn’t want to wear a mask, board president Sharon Whitehurst-Payne [said], won’t be allowed back in school.” Because Science™. The Free Beacon adds: “The San Diego Unified School District is not alone in ushering in a third year of COVID-19 protocols. Public schools in other Democratic-run cities such as Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago are forcing unvaccinated students to quarantine at home after COVID-19 exposures, even if they test negative.” On the bright side, perhaps the reintroduction of these insane protocols will culminate in a nationwide midterm shellacking that’s far more severe for the ruling elite than what it’s already expected to be.
