Re: “The Greenies Are Destroying the Planet

Don’t forget the inflation-inducing rebate/incentive for buying an electric car. Let a true market show what the people want. Don’t forget to add in the cost to replace the batteries (5-10 years down the road) or the most likely carbon fuel to produce the electricity to charge them. —Florida

Re: “Time for a Clean Slate

I admire Donald Trump because of his devotion to our country and its opportunities. He made campaign promises to make America great again and he did it. On a personal level, I believe that his giant ego held him back from accomplishing more. As my uncle used to say, “It is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.” It isn’t good to say everything that one thinks, even if it is completely true. He put off many people who would have voted for him in 2020. He showed that America can come back. To have so damaged the economy that he left for us is a deliberate act by evil people who know exactly what they are doing. Let’s show them that we are not going to have it! —Alabama

Re: “Good News: Parents Are Dropping Kids Out of Public School

Once more I am disappointed with commentary written about public schools. It seems like a broad brush is too often used to paint all public schools with the same descriptions. I live in a suburb of Dallas named Plano. The descriptions you use regarding the schools pushing critical race theory and other progressive agendas are not a problem here. Instead, our educators focus on traditional education objectives. While we have individuals who choose to have their children attend private schools, in general the motivation is to have them grow up in a Christian environment. This is something public schools cannot do, but we have a very significant number of Christian teachers who live their faith through their teaching. —Texas

Re: “Here Come the Left’s ‘Civil War’ Hysterians

For once, I would have to agree with the Democrat scare-mongers: the specter of civil war is closer now than at any time in the past 150 years, with our nation probably more politically divided now than it was before the Confederate states declared their independence in 1861. I suspect that the only thing that has prevented the current political schism from evolving into an actual one is the fact that the stark philosophical divisions we see between the conservative Right and neo-socialist Left do not correlate nearly as distinctly with geography as did the question of slavery. But Democrat “warnings” only serve to make things worse, and exhibit their usual projection: if violence does result, I fully expect it to begin on the Left. —Georgia

Re: “About Those 87,000 New IRS ‘Agents’

As retirees, my wife and I have an incredibly small income which is not reported via the W-2. However, the tax code prevents me from filing without an accountant preparing the return. A simplified return would make accountants unhappy but would undoubtedly result in more revenue as folks stopped searching for loopholes. —Alaska

Re: “Biden’s Blowup: Back to the Future of Islamic Terrorism

Regarding the withdrawal from Afghanistan, Biden, Milley, and Austin need to be punished for their actions. When I was in the military, had I left my rifle where an enemy could get it, I would have been court-martialed. But more importantly is the loss of human life of Americans and others that their actions created. Who in Congress has the guts to put these evil culprits behind bars? You are being challenged. —California
