The House Democrats’ January 6 Committee is nothing more than a partisan anti-Republican bludgeon wrapped in the guise of an investigative committee. If that seems strong, there’s yet more evidence in the fact that the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was hauled in to face questioning. The apparent reason for the inquisition was the fact that Ginni Thomas, herself a lawyer, communicated with Donald Trump’s then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows regarding legal theories to challenge the 2020 election results.

The ostensible reason Ginni Thomas has been targeted by the J6 inquisition is due to her view that the 2020 election was not on the up-and-up. “Mrs. Thomas had significant concerns about fraud and irregularities in the 2020 election,” said her lawyer, Mark Paoletta. “She told the Committee her minimal and mainstream activity focused on ensuring that reports of fraud and irregularities were investigated. Beyond that, she played no role in any events after the 2020 election results.”

However, the actual reason Ginni Thomas was targeted is because she is the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas. In other words, the real target for the Democrats is an old target that they’ve been out to personally destroy ever since he was first nominated. Indeed, it’s telling that the committee focused on whether Thomas may have communicated with her husband regarding her concerns of election fraud.

CBS News reported that Thomas stated that she “never” spoke to her husband about impending cases before the Court, as it was an “iron-clad rule in our home.” Furthermore, she noted that Justice Thomas was “uninterested in politics,” so “I generally do not discuss with him my day-to-day work in politics, the topics I am working on, who I am calling, emailing, texting, or meeting.” She further pointed out that Justice Thomas knew nothing of her texting with Meadows.

As constitutional professor Jonathan Turley wondered, “Why does a congressional committee care what Ginni Thomas ‘believes’?” Americans are perfectly free to believe what they want about the 2020 election. Questioning election results is nothing new — the Democrats have done this every time a Republican won the presidential election since 2000.

It is not illegal to believe that the 2020 election was fraudulent or rigged. Yet Democrats and their Leftmedia cohorts are desperately trying to convince the American public precisely the opposite. They have bullied anyone who dared voice concern regarding the legitimacy of the election. That person, say Democrats, is outing himself as an “insurrectionist” and a “threat to democracy.” It is a dangerously stupid game they are playing as they work to further divide the nation by painting anyone with differing opinions as the enemy.

Thankfully, Ginni Thomas knows her constitutional right to free speech and free thought, and she wasn’t about to bow to the committee’s political narrative.
