Monday: Below the Fold

What Musk is up to, “Bostonians of the Year,” RFK Jr. blames CIA for uncle’s murder, and more.

Cross-Examination

  • What is Musk up to? After inviting a firestorm of criticism on Twitter last week with his implementation of a new anti-doxxing rule that resulted in the temporary suspension of several journalists’ accounts, new CEO Elon Musk dropped a new question over the weekend, polling users as to whether he should “step down as head of Twitter.” He then promised to “abide by the results of this poll.” After 17 million users responded to the question, the answer was an overwhelming “yes,” with 57.5% indicating that they want Musk to step down. After the results, Musk posted a rather cryptic and ominous message: “As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it.” So, will Musk follow through and give the users what they want, as he has consistently done with his previous polling questions? There’s no reason to suggest otherwise, as Musk has a lot of irons in the fire with Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink. Eventually, Musk was going to have to hand over running Twitter to someone else, and this might be his means of doing so now, and also to be seen following the will of the Twittersphere. Of course, this does not mean that Musk’s commitment to change Twitter into a free-speech-friendly space will end. It could simply mean Musk will stop being the primary face of the social media giant. In other words, this move was likely Musk’s exit strategy the whole time.

  • ROFL: Bostonians of the Year: In a hilarious display of the absolutely obtuse nature of the modern woke Left, The Boston Globe included for honorable mention in its annual “Bostonians of the Year” award the wealthy citizens of Martha’s Vineyard for tolerating the sudden and unwelcome arrival of 49 illegal aliens for almost 48 hours. The wealthy island residents, despite having plenty of mansions in which to house illegal aliens drawn to the U.S. by the Democrats’ de facto open-border policy, were showered with the Globe’s praise for sparing some space in the basement of a small church, and only for less than two days. To the Globe, these Vineyard residents are heroes for putting up with the unwanted inconvenience, and evidently for quickly getting these illegal aliens off their island. The Globe then spins the problem of illegal immigration onto — who else? — the Right: “Our system is broken, and opportunists are exploiting the crisis. Who the opportunists are is up for grabs. Some fault all the migrants pouring over our porous Southern border; others fault hard-right lawmakers for being indifferent to human suffering, focusing instead on scoring political points.”

  • RFK Jr. blames CIA for uncle’s murder: Last Thursday, following a segment from Tucker Carlson’s show in which he interviewed a CIA insider, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. declared: “The most courageous newscast in 60 years. The CIA’s murder of my uncle was a successful coup d'état from which our democracy has never recovered.” The post was in response to the CIA insider’s claim that the agency was involved in JFK’s murder. Last week, 13,000 government documents related to the JFK assassination were released to the public. This latest document dump, combined with all the previous documents that the government has released regarding JFK’s assassination, now accounts for 97% of all the government’s records on the crime. The Biden administration is holding back the remaining 3% of the records, which has only served to fuel suspicion that what remains directly implicates the CIA. The administration argued that “continued postponement of public disclosure of such information is necessary to protect against an identifiable harm to the military defense, intelligence operations, law enforcement, or the conduct of foreign relations.” Clearly, RFK Jr. thinks the CIA has something to hide, which he believes is why the government has been slow-walking the release of the JFK files that were supposed to be fully released to the public by October 2017.
