The Paramount Message: Liberty vs. Tyranny
Ron DeSantis happened to be the messenger this week for the most critical choice for American citizens.
“Freedom lives here in our great Sunshine State of Florida,” proclaimed Governor Ron DeSantis in his second inaugural address earlier this week. “Florida is where woke goes to die.” In a nutshell, that could be the Republican platform for the 2024 election, which we’re quite sure DeSantis has in mind.
DeSantis’s entire speech laid out the contrast between Liberty and tyranny.
Florida, he said, is “the land of liberty and the land of sanity.” As politicians in other states used the pandemic to “grind their citizens down,” he said, “we in Florida lifted our people up.”
“Florida has led the way in preserving what the father of our country called the ‘sacred fire of liberty,’” he added. “It is the fire that burned in Independence Hall when 56 men pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to establish a new nation conceived in liberty.” He pointed to other examples in American history of fighting for Liberty.
He talked about the policy successes of his “bold agenda.” Under his leadership, Florida “taxed lightly, regulated reasonably, and spent conservatively.” The state enacted “big education reforms,” worked to “end judicial activism,” promoted “a new era of stewardship for Florida’s natural resources,” stood with police to defend “law and order,” and handled multiple hurricanes with poise, preparation, and quick remedy. Florida is experiencing a population boom as a result because people are attracted by those and other successes.
One of the most important parts of DeSantis’s message was defending traditional American values and families against the assault of the woke mob. “We reject this woke ideology,” he said. “We seek normalcy, not philosophical lunacy. We will not allow reality, facts, and truth to become optional. We will never surrender to the woke mob.”
How do we know DeSantis scares the woke mob? Well, Vanity Fair tipped the Leftmedia’s hand on how they’ll deal with him. The day before DeSantis’s inauguration, the rag ran a screed titled, “A Comprehensive Guide to Why a Ron DeSantis Presidency Would Be as Terrifying as a Trump One.”
Sounds like a real winner to us.
If conservatives seek to conserve anything, the woke mob’s radical leftward lurch must be opposed and defeated at every turn. Victory won’t come all at once, and it won’t come through any one person. No — NO — single politician is the only possible savior.
The other most important part of his message is that there is hope. “Florida is proof positive that We the People are not destined for failure,” he said. “Decline is a choice. Success is attainable. And freedom is worth fighting for.”
DeSantis spoke of the fight and the team effort necessary to win it. “We” was a common word in his speech. “We embrace…” “We reject…” “We insist…” “We do not run…” “We will be on our guard. We will stand firm in the faith. We will be courageous. We will be strong! And we thank God.”
Is DeSantis the guy in 2024? Who knows. The GOP primary will play out and voters will decide who will represent Republicans in the next president election. What we can tell you is that the message above is exactly the message the party should rally around and present to voters. It is a choice between Liberty and tyranny.
