The Insanity Method of Governance
INSANITY — Doing the same thing over and over again, each time expecting a different result.
I saw a sign recently that sums up much of what has been happening in our nation’s capital. It said, “If you elect a clown, expect a circus!” I’m pretty sure I know who they were referring to. However, we can change it to plural, “clowns,” because they exist in both parties.
Myself and other Patriot Post contributors have pointed out many members of the Biden administration who were appointed to positions of power and importance based only on their gender, race, or sexual identity, not on their competence. Admiral Rachel Divine, fashionista/luggage connoisseur Sam Brinton, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg all come to mind.
Buttigieg was elected because of his sexual identity, not because he can make transportation better. He couldn’t run South Bend, Indiana, as mayor, so let’s put him in charge of transportation for the entire country. How’s that supply chain problem working out, Pete?
Unfortunately, I could keep going, but this is just the Democrat clown show. Not to be outdone, the Republicans are trying to catch up. The 2022 midterm elections showed us that Republicans can be just as insane as the Democrats. Okay, maybe they’re just insanity-lite! The “McLeadership” team for the Republicans was not going to be denied its “stuck on stupid” strategy during the campaign. RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy showed nothing to inspire victory.
McDaniel can’t seem to get Republicans elected, but she says a lot of people in the Republican Party really like her.
McConnell refused to support candidates for the Senate who weren’t his cup of tea. Apparently that means they were too conservative. However, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska fit the bill. McConnell poured millions into her campaign so she could continue to vote with Biden 67% of the time.
McCarthy seems to want to be speaker more than he wants what’s best for the country. The vote for speaker makes Republicans look incompetent.
I voted for Trump in 2016 hoping for the best. We all knew who Hillary Clinton was, so voting for her wasn’t going to happen for me. President Trump did more for the country than any Republican going back to Ronald Reagan. Unfortunately, Trump thought being a brash, arrogant New Yorker, ticking off people for no good reason, was okay. He had no filter on his mouth. Whatever popped up in his head at 3:00 AM was tweeted out.
Trump endorsed many congressional and Senate candidates in the primary. Several candidates he endorsed were payback for perceived offenses. Hershel Walker and Oz Mehmet were both weak candidates. Before election day, Republicans and Democrats had a war chest of $80 million combined. Trump had $100 million that he kept for his upcoming campaign. I’m puzzled why he endorsed candidates then did little to nothing to get them over the finish line.
Now we have The Donald trashing other Republicans and shifting the blame for everything that went wrong in the midterms. With both parties looking like complete clown shows, it’s hard to be optimistic about the nation’s future, but not impossible. God help us!
Something to pray about!
