Who knew there were so many vile misogynists within the House Democrat caucus?

Yesterday, in what can only be described as a resounding party-line repudiation of women in general and women’s sports in particular, 203 House Democrats voted against a bill that would preserve and protect women’s sports from biological males.

Fortunately, these 203 cultists were outnumbered by House Republicans, 219 of whom took the side of our sisters and daughters rather than the side of Lia Thomas and others like him. As The Hill reports:

House Republicans on Thursday passed a bill that seeks to prohibit transgender women and girls from participating in female athletic programs, moving to the national stage an issue that has thus far mainly played out in state legislatures and individual sports associations.

The legislation — titled the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act and sponsored by Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) — passed in a party-line 219-203 vote. It is the first standalone bill to restrict the rights of transgender people considered in the House.

Got to love that “restrict the rights” language there.

The House win is no cause for celebration, however, as the Democrat-controlled Senate is highly unlikely to take up the legislation. And even if it did, Scranton Joe Biden has issued a veto threat.

With a nasty stiff-arm to our sisters and daughters, the president’s hard-left handlers decried the legislation and threw up a bunch of smokescreens: “Discrimination has no place in our nation’s schools or on our playing fields,” the administration’s cultists said. “Instead of addressing the pressing issues that families and students face today — such as raising teacher pay, keeping guns out of schools, addressing the mental health crisis our youth face, and helping students learn and recover academically from unprecedented disruptions — Congressional Republicans have instead chosen to prioritize policies that discriminate against children.”

House Minority Leader and election denier Hakeem Jeffries was just as bad, asserting, “MAGA Republicans are trying to sensationalize an issue that doesn’t really exist in the way that they are falsely portraying.” It does exist, and it wasn’t Republicans who started it.

Lest any of you think we’re overblowing the seriousness of this, let’s consider the case of Payton McNabb, a senior volleyball player at Hiwassee Dam High School in Murphy, North Carolina, “who told state representatives Wednesday that she suffered a concussion and neck injury during a game in September” when a “transgender” athlete drilled the ball into her face.

Women’s sports advocate and former All-American swimmer Riley Gaines, who’s postponing her entry into dental school in order to fight this essential fight, testified along with McNabb at the state house hearing and posted footage of McNabb’s injury to her Twitter feed.

Said Gaines: “Watch the clip of Payton McNabb getting spiked in the face by a male competing with the women. Then watch her testimony she gave today for the first time publicly. I was honored to stand alongside her in NC to continue the fight to protect women’s sports.” Indeed, watch the clip:

As McNabb made clear to state lawmakers, the risks are very real and very serious: “Due to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association policy allowing biological males to compete against biological females,” she said, “my life has forever been changed.”

McNabb said she still suffers from the effects of her injuries — which include impaired vision, partial paralysis on the right side of her body, unremitting headaches, anxiety, and depression — but this is of little concern to Democrats and, clearly, to the American people who vote for them.

As far as they’re concerned, McNabb’s grievous injuries are a small price to pay for “transgender” “equality.”

Whatever sickness is infecting Democrats in DC is, sadly, also infecting state Democrats in North Carolina. Fortunately, though, pro-women Republicans easily outnumber anti-women Democrats in the Tar Heel statehouse. As the Carolina Journal reports: “Lawmakers in the North Carolina House passed H574, the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act, which would prevent biological female athletes from being forced to compete against biological male transgender athletes in school sports designated for females. The bill would not prevent transgender athletes from participating on teams that are co-ed or designated for their biological sex at birth.”

Whether Democrats will ultimately go down with the transgender ship is anyone’s guess, but cults are alluring and powerful forces, and breaking free from them isn’t easy.

Regardless, people of good will and decency across the political spectrum must keep calling out this cult — and standing up for our sisters and daughters.
