Tim Scott, Plantation Fugitive
Leftists cannot abide a black man thinking for himself and deciding to be conservative.
“You ain’t black” if you don’t think and vote Democrat. At least that’s what Joe Biden literally said in 2020. Such patronizing racism is perfectly fine when Democrats do it, however, because they care … or something. That’s why a leftist can get away with saying black Republican presidential candidate Tim Scott “doesn’t get” racism.
In Scott’s case, it started after he announced his presidential bid in May. Scott offers a very positive message that, in America, anyone can succeed if they try. He’s a prime example, having grown up in a poor black family. By contrast, media talkingheads make everything negative for ratings, and leftists need blacks to keep thinking they can’t make it without Democrat handouts.
Joy Behar of “The View” subjected Scott to a racial upbraiding. “He’s one of these guys, like Clarence Thomas, black Republican, who believes in pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, rather than understanding the systemic racism that African-Americans face in this country and other minorities,” she huffed. “He doesn’t get it. Neither does Clarence. That’s why they’re Republicans.”
If only these black dupes were as smart as the white lady on TV, they’d be Democrats.
Behar wasn’t alone, of course. “One of the issues that Tim Scott has is that he seems to think, ‘Because I made it, everyone can make it,’” scoffed Behar’s black cohost, Sunny Hostin. “Ignoring, again, the fact that he’s the exception and not the rule. And until he’s the rule, then he can stop talking about systemic racism.”
Whoopi Goldberg, who is also black, claimed Scott has “Clarence Thomas Syndrome.” Symptoms include thinking for himself.
Sadly, Scott is no stranger to such racist attacks. Two years ago, for example, the old Jack Dorsey-run Twitter was slow to block “Uncle Tom” from appearing in its trending section as the Twitter mob digitally lynched Scott for fugitive thinking. His crime? Saying “America is not a racist country.”
For that offense, one NAACP chapter chief dismissed Scott as one of the “apologists for white supremacy.” An MSNBC host called him a “token” whom “Harriet Tubman would have left behind.”
Nine years ago, just after he was appointed to serve the remaining South Carolina Senate term of Jim DeMint, MSNBC hosts directly challenged Scott as someone who couldn’t possibly understand or advance the interests of blacks as a Republican because “the NAACP has given you an ‘F’ on their annual scorecard.”
The irony of these attacks is that Democrats claim they’ve been leading the fight against racism for 60 years. And their argument is basically that they’ve failed so miserably that America is still overrun with white supremacists. Somehow that’s supposed to mean blacks should keep voting Democrat.
But Scott doesn’t need us to come to his defense; he’s more than capable of standing his own ground.
“There’s no doubt a white lady dressing up in black face giving a black man advice probably doesn’t ring true in anyone’s minds, certainly not my own,” he said in response to Behar’s blatant racism. “But more importantly, I find it offensive and disgusting and dangerous for a very different reason.”
“Here’s what’s dangerous and offensive to me,” he explained. “For every young child in America wanting to think for themselves, draw their own conclusions, what they’re saying to them is, ‘Stay in your lane. Do not stick your head out because we’re going to tell you how to think because you never learned anything about what you should think.’” He added, “It is literally the dumbest, most offensive thing I’ve ever witnessed on TV to hear these millionaire TV personalities telling me how to live my life as a black man, but more importantly, suggesting to every child, stay in your place, follow my lead or you, too, will reap the same harvest as Tim Scott or Clarence Thomas or any other conservative who dares to think for themselves.”
We believe that’s called a mic drop.
Democrats are and always have been the party of racism. Their policies — from slavery to Jim Crow to the so-called “Great Society” — have oppressed blacks, destroying their families and opportunities. Yet today’s Democrats have the unmitigated gall to claim they’re the only ones protecting blacks from evil, racist Republicans. Republicans whose message is that America is a land of opportunity, and that what matters is character, not skin color.
It would be hilarious if it wasn’t still working so well.
