Soros and Son
The man whose billions fund the destruction of America and the West is keeping the business in the family.
Some of our best friends are Jewish.
And now, having said that, let us commence with an attack on the vile human being named George Soros, who just so happens to be Jewish. Soros, at 92, is getting up there in age, and he’s passing things on to his 37-year-old son who brags “I’m more political” than the old man.
More political than George Soros? How can that be?
Sunday’s Wall Street Journal tells us all about it, heralding this news in a lengthy and friendly interview whose subhead reads, “In his first interview as successor, Alex Soros says the family’s $25 billion philanthropic enterprise will boost its support for voting and abortion rights.”
Great.
“George Soros, the legendary investor, philanthropist and right-wing target,” the article begins, “is handing control of his $25 billion empire to a younger son — Alexander Soros, a self-described center-left thinker who grew up self-conscious of the family’s wealth and wasn’t thought to be a potential successor.”
So George Soros is “legendary” and a “philanthropist” and a “right-wing target,” you see. And his son gets to describe himself as some sort of non-threatening “center-left thinker” rather than being described by the rotten causes he bankrolls and the societal upheaval he brings about. Shame on the Journal’s news desk.
And, of course, when a leftist says he supports voting rights, it means he supports illegal voting. And when he says he supports abortion rights, it means he supports abortion — just like when he says he supports, say, Black Lives Matter, it means he supports Marxism and racial division and soft-on-crime district attorneys and the defunding of the police and the abolition of prisons and the destruction of the nuclear family. Stuff like that.
Not that Soros senior wasn’t already funding such enterprises all along. As the Journal reports: “The Soros’s nonprofit Open Society Foundations, known as OSF, directs about $1.5 billion a year to groups such as those backing human rights around the world and helping build democracies. Foundation money also goes to universities and other educational organizations. The Soros super PAC, Democracy PAC, has backed the election campaigns of district attorneys and law-enforcement officials seeking to reduce incarceration rates and racial bias in the justice system, among the efforts that have riled the right.”
Language like this makes it clear whose side the Journal’s news desk is on. Because the paper as a whole is not to be confused with its editorial page. The former is generally more left-leaning in its reporting than — believe it or not — The New York Times, while the latter is a mostly conservative outlier to the journalism that surrounds it. When right-thinking people hear language like “district attorneys and law-enforcement officials seeking to reduce incarceration rates and racial bias,” they can usually see through the code. But most readers can’t. Instead, they benignly and wrongly see the work of a well-meaning center-left philanthropist. What we have, then, is a puff piece rather than a critical look at the damage that the Soros billions are doing.
For that, we turn to columnist Josh Hammer, who writes: “George Soros is an evil man. In fact, he is one of the most evil men currently shaping American and Western politics, and global events more generally.”
Hammer himself is Jewish, and that little disclaimer is necessary because the Soros lickspittle brigades on the Left won’t tolerate any criticism of their bottomless-pocketed benefactor — to the point where they’ll accuse even Jews of being anti-Semitic for looking askance at the worldwide wreckage that this one incredibly wealthy man has wrought and that his young son is committed to carrying on.
It’s a desperate and ridiculous charge, and it helps inoculate the man from all manner of righteous criticism. Nonetheless, Hammer pounds away: “To straightforwardly opine in this manner is not to traffic in antisemitism or noxious Jew-baiting. It is simply to share one’s perspective about one of the most influential political donors, ‘philanthropists’ and social activists in the world — someone who doles out countless sums to undermine and reshape in his dystopian image entire countries, spreading across at least five separate continents.”
Here, we would ask all liberty-loving Jews to turn it on their leftist accusers. How? By noting that Soros is an enemy of the Jewish state. Through his foundation, he works against Israel’s health and well-being by supporting its sworn enemies. As Hammer notes, Soros bankrolls the anti-Israel “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions” movement, and his foundations funnel money to Palestinian-Arab terrorist organizations such as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Thus, it is they — those on the Left — who are the anti-Semites, the Jew haters.
As for Alex Soros, we’re hopeful that he might yet carve out his own fresh territory on the Left — at least insofar as free speech is concerned. As the Journal reports: “In contrast with some on the left, Alex believes that speech on college campuses and elsewhere has become too restricted. ‘I have some differences with my generation in regard to free speech and other things — I grew up watching Bill Maher before bed, after all.’”
Still, if you think the Right’s repeated swipes at Soros are overwrought, think again. As Hammer notes, his investments help determine our way of life:
Soros directly spent $128.5 million during last fall’s U.S. midterm elections, making him that election cycle’s single largest individual donor. He has spent $40 million trying to elect radically left-wing “reform prosecutors” — something he has been fully transparent about. … He has been dishearteningly successful in that endeavor, successfully electing 75 district attorneys — such as Alvin Bragg in New York City, Chesa Boudin in San Francisco (since mercifully recalled) and Kim Foxx in Chicago — who oversee a decivilizational (and oxymoronic) prosecutorial agenda of not prosecuting violent and property crimes. Simply put, Soros is more responsible than any man in the world for the descent of some of America’s most iconic cities into anarchic urban hellholes.
Some six years ago, conservative thinker, author, and talker Dennis Prager wrote that America was then engaged in its second Civil War — a war not between North and South but between Left and Right. It’s a war that continues to this day, even if some on the Right refuse to acknowledge it.
It’s a war that the Soros family continues to fund, and a war that its well-armed brigades continue to fight.
