The ideologically-inspired bankruptcy of the Obama administration and the Democratic Party remains unrelenting. Last Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced a bill in the Senate that would revoke citizenship for Americans who join ISIS. Believing time is of the essence, Cruz sought to fast track the Expatriate Terrorist Act, meaning he bypassed the normal Senate committee process. He did so because the Senate is nearing the end of its current session and having the bill go through committee "would mean that it could not pass in time to prevent Americans fighting right now with ISIS from coming back and murdering other Americans," he said. "There is an urgency and an exigency to this situation," Cruz added.

On Wednesday, Americans got a rare bipartisan vote from the House of Representatives. Too bad it was one embracing monumental stupidity. By a margin of 273-156, the House voted to authorize the Obama administration's aim to arm and train "moderate" Syrian rebels. The authorization limits the number of trainees to 5,000 members of the so-called Syrian opposition, currently located in Saudi Arabia. No new funding is provided for the effort, but the Obama administration believes international contributions will help fund it. If not, the Pentagon is allowed to shift funds of up to $500 million from other accounts to pick up the slack. The administration must also provide status reports to Congress regarding the success or failure of building a viable opposition force.

On September 11, 2001 the forces of radical Islam perpetrated the worst domestic attack in the history of the nation. Thirteen years later, the reasons for that attack remain utterly anathema to progressive ideology. Nothing reveals the utter bankruptcy of the progressive love affair with moral relativism, non-judgmentalism and multiculturalism better than 9/11. For the briefest of moments, it became utterly impossible to convince the American public that evil is in the eye of the beholder, that we mustn't reach any larger conclusions about those who killed nearly 3,000 Americans, or that Islamo-fascism and American exceptionalism have a more or less equal status in the panoply of world cultures. For the briefest of moments, American were snapped out of their self-absorbed and self-inflicted torpor, their pettiness, and their reflexive ideology. For the briefest of moments, the nation was united by a steely resolve, borne first out of fear, but morphing quickly into righteous anger.
The ostensible 142,000 jobs created in August, well below the 220,000 jobs economic "experts" expected to be created, was pathetic -- as far as Main Street goes. Wall Street? All three major indicators posted nice gains -- based on the assumption that the fiscal crack dealer more familiarly known as the Federal Reserve would be forced to continue its loose money, zero interest rate policies (ZIRP) longer than anticipated. Thus, the greatest economic disconnect in the history of the nation proceeds apace. Trust me, I've known for a long time that, for far too many Americans, one paragraph on the subject of economics is one paragraph too many. It's even worse for the youngest two generations of adults. Unless they possess calculators they are simply innumerate. And when basic math is a total stumper, macro-economics is about as comprehensible as Sanskrit.

"Public officials, and that includes public school officials, violate the free speech clause of the First Amendment whenever they censor speech merely because it offends someone," said William J. Becker, Jr., Freedom X's president and general counsel. "Unfortunately, we are seeing this trend grow as Muslim activists play the victim card."

You know what I'm talking about. The hand-wringing and/or the shrug of the shoulders accompanied by the "we can't be the world's policeman" bit. Far better to let the rest of the world burn if necessary, so we can solve the problems we have "right here at home."

How long will the scheme last?
The public is worried about a lethal virus gaining a foothold in America. I would make the argument one already has. There is little question Ebola is one of the deadliest killers on earth. But for the most part, it can be contained. Amorality, on the other hand, is thoroughly entrenched, and "infecting" new victims every day. Note I said amorality, not immorality. If America were infected with widespread immorality, it would be easily recognized and likely dealt with. Amorality is far more insidious because it requires no effort whatsoever to "go with the flow" and make no concrete decisions about anything. Thus if an utterly corrupt mainstream media continually repeats some version of the idea that bloodthirsty savages who place weapons in civilian facilities and use their own people as human shields are "no better or worse" than a nation facing an existential threat from those savages, amorality requires no protest, no introspection, no nothing.
