National Public Radio is a monument to political correctness. Its acronym might better be thought of as "not professionally responsible." It is not a left-leaning organization. The Leaning Tower of Pisa leans. NPR has fallen over completely for the "progressive" agenda. It is supine. Horizontal. And the actions of NPR president Vivian Schiller in firing Juan Williams are just the most public example of NPR's bias.
That's some of the wisdom my Dad taught me. I thought of that saying when I read the attacks on Family Research Council president Tony Perkins. There's a concerted effort to marginalize those who think marriage is important. In doing so, the left wants to shut out millions of Americans at the grassroots. With the general election less than a month away and the Democrats reeling from one bad poll after another, the time is ripe for them to spring an "October surprise" in an attempt to shift the odds in their favor. During post-election analysis, Republican luminaries stumbled badly in discussing Christine O’Donnell on the night of the Delaware senatorial primary. But Delaware Republicans had just voted. They had given their support—rather convincingly—to the clearly more conservative O’Donnell in a hotly contested primary election. Where was the unity that night?

On August 4, a federal judge in San Francisco held that there is a constitutional right to same-sex marriage, striking down part of the California Constitution defining marriage as one man and one woman. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ordered an expedited schedule to consider this case, with arguments to be held in December.
President Obama has wasted his first year in office “reaching out” to the mullahs in Tehran. Even now, he absurdly says that the Iranian clerics and the United States have a “mutual interest” in stopping the Taliban in Afghanistan. Just whom does he think is now aiding the Taliban? Can he really be so naive? For the past year, although they would never admit it, President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have been pressing a “re-set” button on U.S. policy toward Israel.
By embracing the mosque at Ground Zero, President Obama made it his own. And as his own, it will be an albatross around his neck. At a glittering White House dinner marking the end of the Muslim holiday of Ramadan, Mr. Obama made a strong appeal for religious liberty and tolerance.
The federal same-sex marriage decision out of California sets into motion a sequence of events that will result in a Supreme Court earthquake two years from now.
