NY Times Article on Ocean Acidification: The World Is Doomed, Pay Us to Research It

The NY Times published an article entitled "[Our Deadened, Carbon-Soaked Seas](http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/16/opinion/our-deadened-carbon-soaked-seas.html?_r=0)" that at first glance is very scary. The oceans are acidifying due to human carbon-dioxide emissions! We are hurting marine life, and ourselves in the process! Lions and tigers and bears, OH MY! etc. etc. etc. But upon a second read one notices sentences that include words and phrases such as "may," "could," and "almost certainly." If the oceans are really in such dire straits, why would they use phrases that indicate doubt?

NAS Releases Explosive New Report on Divestment Movement

Today the National Association of Scholars (NAS) released a new report on the fossil fuel divestment movement. *[Inside Divestment: The Illiberal Movement to Turn a Generation Against Fossil Fuels](http://www.nas.org/projects/divestment_report)* is a comprehensive report that discusses not only the outcomes of the movement, but its origins, motives and methods.

The author continues, "dozens of young people want a say in the planet's future, so minors nationwide have been suing states and the federal government in recent years to push action on climate change."

Energy Poverty: A Cold Way to Die

Very few people have heard the term "energy poverty," also known as "fuel poverty." The concept is really quite foreign to wealthy westerners. The sad thing is, it's a term that relates just as much to many of our neighbors as it does to those in developing countries. We all know people in Sub-Saharan Africa struggle in extreme poverty with no electricity, and we all support efforts to relieve that poverty (the most efficient and effective way through the use of abundant, affordable fossil fuels).

EPA Ozone Rule: One More Way to Hurt Poor and Millennials

Let's count the ways the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. government hurt poor people and Millennials. Oh right, that would take years. If you aren't poor or a Millennial, don't tune out. The EPA and the rest of the Obama administration hurt you too. Millennials and those under the poverty line (of any age) have something in common: They lack resources to adapt to changing economic conditions.
